A New Semester, A New Kind of Madness
And today marks the first day of year 3. Technically speaking it's supposed to be the 2nd day, but due to technical glitches i couldn't make it back to Singapore yesterday so today i had my first lectures. I feel obliged to review the last 3 months summer break, before i embark on another semester and all hell breaks lose.
Let's see..
- 3 month internship i did at Keppel FMO: Glad to report that it wasn't a bad experience, considering our working conditions, environment and my friendly and welcoming colleagues, and also comparing to my other friends interning at other companies. Most of them had choppy or non-existent internet access (It's a really big deal to me.), some didn't even had air conditioning in their offices, and almost all are doing menial/meaningless jobs i.e. filing, making coffee etc. A friend of mine even had steel pipes fell on her head. (We joked that if the steel pipes were radiated then she would be a super heroin or sorts. Ok not funny.) Thankfully I did learn a thing or two from my internship, and also
achieved what i set out to do. Though there were indeed moments that
weren't exactly exciting, but overally it wasn't time wasted. - Clubbing mishap at Double-O: Got drunk, lost my specs, woke up in a foreign room. 'nuf said. Blame the cheap booze
- Friends: Great outings with a wonderful bunch of people. Booze bonds right? You know who you are. (Er-hem, Eddie.)
- Last but not least, Singfest! Travis and lostprophets totally rocked the show. Ian Watkins has this cool tattoo depicting to pistols pointing to his, erm, manhood. Fran Healy has this hauntingly beautiful voice. Not to forget his comical Scottish accent. Both the bands poked fun at Pussycat Dolls and Rick Astley in particular. Poor Rick, no one's gonna give him up. The night ended with a wonderful note. Extra surprises including me manage to snap a photo with Fiona Xie (!), and with the nice folks from Crowned King. They even gave us their CD for free! Too bad i couldn't go for the second day. It would've been great i'm sure. Sorry Eddie for bumping you. Next year k?
Received a bag choke full of goodies from Melbourne today. Thank you Eliza for delivering it to me. Heh. Here're some photos of the items included:
Thanks Su, i like the chocolate coated coffee beans the best, but i guessed you knew it already.
Excuse me now while i stop writing/typing, i've an internship report to wrap up. Cheers!
