This Is Not Worth Waiting For.

One of the biggest gifts in 2023 to me would be the gift of health.

We were lucky to be able to partner with Kenneth and his team on their mission to democratise access to preventive healthcare services, with the aim to enable folks like you and me to have a better understanding and control over their health so that we can live longer, healthier lives.

I became a Mito Health customer when they launched their service earlier this year. After multiple delays (procrastination on my part), I finally got my first test done in August.

Predictably, the results weren’t pretty, to say the least. I was overweight and out of shape, and my cholesterol levels weren’t great. To top it off, it’s the first time in my life that I have higher than normal blood pressure bordering on hypertension. The results really made me sit up and decide to take drastic action to turn my health and life around.

So what did I do? Besides the usual advice of eating better, drinking less, and working out more, the magic of Mito Health is the personalised strategy Dr Ryan and his team prescribed me. For example, what does eating better mean? In my context, it means eating more white, unprocessed white meat and proteins (hard-boiled eggs!) but at the same time maintaining my carbohydrate intake since I was training for a half marathon. There were other tactics we discussed and implemented to help me form better habits. After all, the best strategy over the long term is to build better habits rather than relying on willpower.

I am really happy to share that I’ve successfully completed the half marathon on a personal best, and I continue to increase my fitness based on that momentum. I’ve lost quite a fair bit of weight; I sleep better at night due to my drastically cutting my alcohol intake and working out. I can focus better at work. I’m a more present father and husband. Astonishingly, the positive effects of improving my health had a net positive effect on all other areas of my life. That’s a huge unlock that I wasn’t able to foresee.

My biggest takeaway from this experience is this: the biggest lie we tell ourselves is this can wait. The reality is that life goes on, and your health requires caring and feeding like any other area in life. It’s easy to ignore our health because the effects aren’t immediate; that’s why we need to work against our short-term bias and think long-term.

I hope that by investing in building good habits, even if occasionally I might stray, I will be able to get back on track and achieve good long-term results. After all, process saves us from the poverty of our intentions.

The Mito Health team had kindly offered to gift me a very generous partner discount code (head to their website and use the code Forge10 to get 10% off) that I want to gift to you as well. I hope you’re able to take advantage of this in the new year and start taking control and investing in yourself, starting from today. Don’t wait!
